Walrus have begun to use Izembek National Wildlife Refuge in Western Alaska in recent years, most likely becasue changes in the Bering Sea caused by climate change are shifting the locations and abundance of food resources. Large numbers of them haul out on the protected barrier islands that seperate Izembek Lagoon form the Bering Sea betwen foraging trips out to sea. Izembek National Wildlife Refuge, Alaska. August.
